Gearing up for the Halloween Haunt

Its that time of the year where amusement parks all over the U.S. are getting ready to scare your paints off! Kings Dominion is no different. This years Halloween Haunt will see the addition of two new mazes, a new scare zone, and a new show. That will bring there number of Haunt attractions to 15!

Behind the Screams of Kings Dominions Halloween Haunt

I had a chance to go down to the park last week and check out some of the things they are doing to get ready for the Halloween Haunt. Right now the park is only open on the weekends, so the park was pretty quite, except for all the people trucking in Halloween props to different parts of the park.

One of the new mazes this year is called the Toxic Plague. A maze that will test your fear of creepy crawlys. The maze is new from the ground up. Most people saw a few months ago, a building go up next to the Hyper Sonic station. That is the spot for the new house. As of last week they were hard at work putting walls up and getting the layout of the house set.

Club Blood is a maze that was new last year. This maze sits in a building that is up year round and only used for this maze. For the most part the maze stays up and some props stay in place, so there was not a lot of work going on in Club Blood. This maze was also added to the Cedar Fair flag ship park this year. It is replacing the Vampires Lair. This is some what approrate because Club Blood is a vampire club where they eat all the victims. So this fits.

Alien Outpost is a maze that was also around last year but unlike Club Blood, it has to be removed and put up every year, because it uses the station, and que for Flight of Fear. They were just finishing up the maze layout and starting to work on the props.

The outdoor mazes like Black Beards Revenge were on stand by as Hurricane Hanna made her way to the park, so only the layout and big props were being put in to place and the final touch ups were going to be made after the storm.

The Halloween Haunt was the absolute scariest Halloween I've ever had. Bring your rubber underwear.
